Temporary henna tattoos are among the activities available for kids at the Rosicrucian Egyptian Museum's annual Epagomenal Festival |
The Rosicrucian Egyptian Museum is hosting its annual Egyptian Epagomenal Festival. In ancient Egyptian mythology, the calendar included 360 days plus five additional Epagomenal days. These Epagomenal days were days "out of time" when goddesses Isis and Nephthys, and gods Osiris, Seth, and Horus were born. The Egyptians celebrated their birthdays with a grand festival each year.
This park-wide festival will feature special lectures, programs, tomb tours, a costume contest and Senet tournament (win a family membership), as well as children and family acitivties including a scavenger hunt and ancient Egyptian games.
Outdoor booths will be held during the weekend festival, and include hands-on activities such as children's crafts and even an ancient Egyptian "photo booth". Museum staff will be dressed in Egyptian costumes, and we encourage guests to dress up and join in all of the fun!
