Ninth Annual Walk a Mile in Her Shoes® April 27, 2011, San Jose, Ca

Are you man enough to Walk a Mile in Her Shoes? This annual event brings together men and women to walk (in high heels) from Plaza de Cesar Chavez through the streets of downtown San Jose to build awareness to the problem of sexual assault in our community. The walk begins at 5:00 p.m. and ends at a location at the San Jose Repertory Theatre where all can enjoy a festive reception and marvel in their achievements.
The YWCA Silicon Valley hosts this unique event during Sexual Assault Awareness Month to call attention to the staggering statistics associated with sexual assault: one-in-three women and one-in-five men, regardless of socio-economic status, will be sexually assaulted in their lifetime. This event is a light-hearted approach to a very serious subject and increases awareness of how sexual assault impacts individuals and families right here where we live.
