San Jose Youth Symphony’s Subscription Series Concert

The San Jose Youth Symphony Philharmonic Orchestra, under the artistic leadership of Music Director and Conductor, Yair Samet, announces its concert, as part of its Subscription Series, that will showcase winners from the 2009-2010 Young Artist Competition, proudly sponsored by the San Jose Symphony Foundation. Two outstanding young soloists will be featured: 13-year-old flautist Apoorva Rangan, performing Mozart’s Flute Concerto No. 1 in G Major, K. 313; 17-year-old clarinetist Enoch Matsumara, performing Verdi’s Rigoletto Fantasia in B-flat Minor for Clarinet and Orchestra. The program opens with Rossini’s Overture to William Tell and also includes Ponchielli’s Dance of the Hours and Tchaikovsky’s Capriccio Italien.
